    Check Areas

    Overview

Check Areas opens a modeless, editable grid of every area in the model, collected across every area scheme. Each row shows Number, Name, Level, Scheme, Area, Perimeter, and Status (Placed, Not Placed, or Not Enclosed). Areas are 2D, so the editable fields are just Number and Name, while Area, Level, Scheme, and Perimeter are read-only or computed. Scope the list to the entire model or just the active Area Plan, filter by area scheme, edit inline, delete selected areas, and highlight any area in the model. Because the panel is modeless, each Apply commits immediately and permanently (every edit its own Ctrl+Z entry), so you can keep working in Revit and click Reload to refresh the grid.

    Status classification

    • Placed: a healthy, enclosed area with a computed value.
    • Not Placed: the area is defined in its scheme but was never placed in a plan view.
    • Not Enclosed: the area is placed but its boundary is open or overlapping, so Revit cannot compute its value (the Areas analog of a Room's Redundant state).

Scheme, the dimension Rooms and Spaces lack

Every area belongs to an area scheme (for example Gross Building or Rentable), and Check Areas reads all schemes at once. The Scheme column and the toolbar filter let you focus on one scheme at a time. Scheme is read-only here: an area's scheme is fixed by the Area Plan it lives in.

    How to use

    1. In the B45 Labs | Coordination tab, open the QA/QC panel and click Check Areas.
    2. Review every area in the grid; use the Scheme filter and the Entire Model / Active View scope to narrow what is listed.
    3. Edit Number and Name inline (Area, Level, Scheme, and Perimeter are read-only), and use Select All / Deselect All plus Delete Selected to clear areas you do not want.
    4. Click Highlight to select an area and zoom to it in its Area Plan.
    5. Click Apply to write the edits and deletions to the model, changes commit immediately (undo them one at a time with Ctrl+Z in Revit).
    6. Keep editing on the Revit canvas if you need to, then click Reload to re-read the areas from the current model state.

    Tips & Notes

    • Sort by Status to triage: Not Placed areas need manual placement, and Not Enclosed usually points to an open or overlapping boundary to fix.
    • Use the Scheme filter to review one scheme at a time on a model that carries several (for example Gross Building alongside Rentable).
    • Set the scope to Active View to work only the areas visible in the current Area Plan, or Entire Model to see them all.
    • Because the panel is modeless there is no OK/Cancel rollback, Apply is permanent, so review your selection before deleting.

    Limitations

    • Operates on areas in the host model only, not in linked models.
    • Only Number and Name are editable, areas have no upper limit, offsets, or volume, and Area, Level, Scheme, and Perimeter are read-only or computed.
    • Does not create areas or place Not Placed areas, placement needs manual interaction on the canvas.
    • No session Cancel, each Apply is committed immediately (undo via Ctrl+Z in Revit).
