Check Spaces
Overview
Check Spaces opens a modal, editable grid of every MEP space in the model across two tabs that share the same rows. The General tab mirrors Check Rooms plus Volume — Number, Name, Base Level, Base Offset, Top Level, Top Offset, Area, Volume, and Status (Placed / Unplaced / Redundant). The Loads tab exposes the MEP values — HVAC Zone, Space Type, Occupants, Specified Lighting Load, Specified Power Load, and the engine-computed Design and Calculated heating/cooling loads. Filter by level, edit the writable fields inline, delete selected spaces, and highlight a space in the model. Apply writes inside a session; Reset or Cancel rolls it all back.
General tab
Identity and placement, matching Check Rooms plus Volume: Number, Name, Base Level, Base Offset, Top Level, Top Offset, Area, Volume, and Status. Number, Name, offsets, and Top Level are editable.
Loads tab
- HVAC Zone (read-only, resolved from the Zone-to-Space relationship) and Space Type (editable).
- Occupants, Specified Lighting Load, and Specified Power Load — editable design inputs.
- Design and Calculated heating/cooling loads — read-only, computed by the energy engine; a value of "—" means uncalculated.
How to use
- In the B45 Labs | Coordination tab, open the QA/QC panel and click Check Spaces.
- Use the General tab for identity and placement and the Loads tab for MEP values; the Level filter and search narrow both.
- Edit the writable fields inline — Number, Name, offsets, Top Level, Occupants, Specified Lighting/Power Load, and Space Type — or select redundant/unplaced spaces to delete.
- Click Highlight to select a space and navigate to its plan view.
- Click Apply to write the changes with the window still open, or Reset to roll the session back to the model's original state.
- Click OK to commit and close, or Cancel to discard the entire session.
Tips & Notes
- The Status column flags Unplaced and Redundant spaces at a glance — the same triage as Check Rooms.
- On the Loads tab, a load that reads "—" is uncalculated (zero), which separates a never-run space from a genuinely zero one.
- Design loads are your inputs; the paired Calculated heating/cooling loads are the energy engine's output — compare them to judge fit.
- Volume shows only when Areas and Volumes is enabled in Area & Volume Computations; otherwise it reads "—".
Limitations
- Operates on spaces in the host model only, not in linked models.
- Design and Calculated heating/cooling loads and HVAC Zone are read-only — they come from Revit's energy engine and the Zone-to-Space relationship, not from this grid.
