Compare Model Progress
Overview
Compare Model Progress reads every valid snapshot stored in the model and opens an interactive dashboard that computes the delta between any two of them. Pick snapshot A (previous) and snapshot B (current) from the full history — not just the two most recent — and the grid shows, for each metric, the previous value, the current value, the change, and the percent change, with growth and regression colour-coded. It is the second step of the snapshot -> compare -> clear cycle, needs at least two snapshots to run, and lets you export the whole comparison to Excel from the window.
How to use
- Make sure the model has at least two snapshots (see Save Model Progress Snapshot).
- In the B45 Labs | Coordination tab, open the Analytics panel and click Compare Model Progress.
- If fewer than two snapshots exist, the command tells you and stops — take another snapshot first.
- In the dashboard, choose snapshot A (previous) and snapshot B (current); the defaults are the two newest, but any pair from the history works.
- Read the delta grid — elements, views, sheets, rooms, categories, worksets, phases, warnings — where each row shows previous, current, the delta, and the percent change.
- Click Export to write the full comparison to an Excel file for reporting or to share with the team.
Tips & Notes
- Comparing non-adjacent snapshots (for example the first and the latest) quantifies total modeling work across an entire phase, not only the last increment.
- Rising warning and redundant-room counts are flagged as regressions even though the number went up — read those rows as "worse", not "more done".
- Export is user-initiated: the comparison stays on screen until you choose to save it, so you can re-pick A/B and export again.
Limitations
- At least two valid snapshots must exist in the model, or the command cannot run.
- Comparison is read-only — it never changes the model or the stored snapshots.
