    Check Spelling

    Overview

Check Spelling scans your documentation text — Text Notes, Room names, Sheet names, View names, and Tag text — against a Hunspell dictionary and lists every unrecognized word with suggestions. Pick the dictionary language, scope the run to the current view, to sheets (optionally a single Sheet Set), or the whole project, and choose which of the five sources to include. For each flagged word you can edit or pick a suggestion and Apply it back to the model, Ignore it (remembered for this project), or Add to Dictionary (kept for every project). Results open in a review grid with checkboxes for batch actions, a status badge per row, and a Highlight button to locate the element. The window is non-modal, so you fix and keep working.

    Languages and dictionaries

The Language dropdown offers English (US), French (FR), Portuguese (BR), Russian (RU), and Spanish (ES) — Hunspell dictionaries embedded in the plug-in. Your accepted words live in a project dictionary that is global across languages, and Revit's own RevitENU.dic / Custom.dic are folded into the accepted set. English is production; the other four are beta.

    Scope and sources

    • Scope: Current View, Sheets (optionally one Sheet Set), or Entire Project.
    • Sources: Text Notes, Room names, Sheet names, View names, and Tag text — toggle any combination.
    • The Sheets scope reveals a Sheet Set filter to confine the run to one package.

    Per-word actions

    • Apply — write the chosen or edited suggestion back to the element.
    • Ignore — skip the word for this document; remembered across sessions.
    • Add to Dictionary — accept the word for every project.
    • Highlight — select and show the element in the model.
    • Clear Resolved — remove rows you've already acted on.

    How to use

    1. In the B45 Labs | Coordination tab, open the Documentation panel and click Check Spelling. The window is non-modal.
    2. Choose the dictionary Language, set the Scope (Current View, Sheets, or Entire Project), and tick the Sources to check — Text Notes, Rooms, Sheets, Views, Tags.
    3. Click Run. Each unrecognized word appears as a row with its location, source, and the engine's suggestions.
    4. For a row, edit or accept the suggested word and click Apply to write it back — or tick several rows and Apply them as a batch, each with its own suggestion.
    5. Use Ignore to dismiss a word for this project, or Add to Dictionary to accept it everywhere; Highlight jumps to the element in the model.
    6. Clear Resolved tidies the list; Export / Import Dictionary moves your accepted words between projects as a .txt file.

    Tips & Notes

    • Match the dictionary Language to the document's language for meaningful results; the checkbox Sources let you focus a pass on just sheet or view names, for example.
    • Ignore is remembered per project (it persists in the .rvt), while Add to Dictionary is shared across every project — use Add for real domain vocabulary, Ignore for one-off proper nouns.
    • Words already in Revit's own dictionaries (RevitENU.dic and Custom.dic) are treated as accepted, so approved Autodesk terms aren't flagged.
    • Build a house glossary once and carry it between projects with Export / Import Dictionary.

    Limitations

    • Replacements land on Text Notes, Room, Sheet, and View names; tag text is best-effort and stays locked when it is read-only or parameter-driven — the row is marked Failed rather than forced.
    • Dictionaries beyond English (French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish) ship as beta.
