NWC View
Overview
NWC View prepares a single, clean 3D view for Navisworks export. It creates (or reuses) a dedicated view named #NWC_View, then strips out everything that should not reach the coordination model: it reveals and unhides hidden elements and model groups, hides Revit links, imported CAD/DWG/images, annotation and analytical categories, removes every view filter, clears any view template, and resets crop, section, and scope boxes. It finishes by setting Detail Level to Fine, the phase to the model's last phase with a Show Complete-equivalent phase filter, and a flat-color gradient background, then activates the view zoomed to fit — ready to export straight to NWC.
How to use
- In the B45 Labs | Coordination tab, open the Clash Analysis panel and click NWC View.
- The command finds your default 3D view in a worksharing-aware way (it resolves the per-user "{3D - username}" view) and duplicates it into a dedicated #NWC_View; if no default 3D view exists, it creates a temporary one and deletes it when done.
- It runs a cleanup pass — unhiding hidden elements and model groups, hiding links, imports, annotations and analytical categories, removing filters, and clearing any inherited view template.
- It applies export-ready settings: Detail Level Fine, the last phase with a Show Complete-equivalent phase filter, and a gradient background.
- The #NWC_View activates automatically, zoomed to fit. Export it to NWC from Revit's Navisworks exporter.
Tips & Notes
- Re-run it any time — it reuses the same #NWC_View and re-applies the whole cleanup, so an existing export view is always brought back to a known-good state (including clearing a view template you may have assigned to it since the last run).
- Fine detail is set deliberately: coarser detail levels drop MEP fittings, curtain panels, and complex family geometry, which produces incomplete clashes in Navisworks.
- On a clean run there is no dialog — the view just opens. A summary appears only when something needed attention.
Limitations
- It prepares one dedicated 3D view (#NWC_View); it does not run the Navisworks export itself.
- Topography and other site geometry stay visible — only the Internal Origin, Project Base Point, and Survey Point reference markers under Site are hidden.
- Read-only documents are rejected up front, since the view and its graphics are written to the model.
