Select All In-Place Elements

Select All Modeled In-Place Elements finds every in-place family instance in the model, selects them in one pass, and zooms to fit. The scan is document-wide — in-place families can live under any category, so no category filter is applied — and an element counts as in-place when its type is a family symbol whose family is modeled in place. It runs only when a 3D view is active and never switches views for you; it is a selection tool that reads the model without modifying anything.

1. Switch to a 3D view — the ribbon button is enabled only while a 3D view is active.
2. In the B45 Labs | Coordination tab, open the Model Management panel and click Select All Modeled In-Place Elements.
3. Every in-place family instance across all categories is selected and the view zooms to fit the selection.
4. A dialog reports how many in-place elements were selected, or tells you none were found in this model.

• The selection is document-wide, not limited to what is currently visible — use it to inventory every in-place family before a model handoff.
• Check Model Health reports the in-place count; this command is how you actually grab that set to review or replace it.
• In-place families inflate file size and do not schedule cleanly — with everything selected you can walk the list and flag candidates for loadable-family replacement.
