    Find and Replace

    Overview

Find and Replace searches the same five text surfaces as Find — Text Notes, Room names, View names, Sheet names, and Tag text — then lets you rewrite them. Every match is previewed and highlighted in the model; you replace the current one or Replace All at once, and the list automatically re-runs so the remaining count stays accurate. Scope the run to the current view, to sheets (optionally a single Sheet Set), or the whole project, and tighten it with Match Case and Match Whole Word. Each replacement is its own transaction, so it undoes granularly and one failure doesn't stop the batch.

    Scope and options

    • Current View — matches only in the active view.
    • Sheets — every sheet, or a single Sheet Set when one is picked.
    • Entire Project — all supported elements across the model.
    • Match Case and Match Whole Word narrow what counts as a hit.

    What it can edit

Replacements are written to Text Notes, Room names (ROOM_NAME), Sheet names (SHEET_NAME), and View names (VIEW_NAME). Tag text is attempted only when the tag exposes a writable label; parameter-driven or read-only tags are reported as skipped rather than forced.

    How to use

    1. In the B45 Labs | Coordination tab, open the Documentation panel and click Find and Replace. The window is non-modal.
    2. Enter the text to find and the replacement text.
    3. Set the scope — Current View, Sheets, or Entire Project — and toggle Match Case / Match Whole Word as needed. For the Sheets scope you can restrict the run to one Sheet Set.
    4. Press Enter (or Find) to preview every match; use Previous and Next to review each one, highlighted in the model.
    5. Replace the current match, or click Replace All. The search re-runs after each change so the match count and highlights stay current.

    Tips & Notes

    • Always preview before Replace All — a project-wide run rewrites text across sheets, views, rooms, and tags in one pass.
    • Use the Sheets scope with a Sheet Set to confine a rename to one package without touching the rest of the model.
    • Match Whole Word avoids partial hits — replacing 'PLAN' won't touch 'PLANTER'.

    Limitations

    • Find and Replace edits Text Notes, Room names, View names, and Sheet names; tag text is best-effort and is skipped when the tag's value is read-only or driven by the tagged element's parameters.
    • It does not edit schedule cells, dimension text, keynotes, or text inside families or imported CAD.
